“One of the Baroque period's most celebrated choral masterpieces, this Mass was Bach's last major work before he died.” (Classic FM)

The Mass in B minor (BWV 232) is a musical setting of the complete Ordinary of the Latin Mass, composed around 1748–49, a year before his death in 1750. When the work is heard in its entirety, the listener comes away with the impression that this is a piece of music the composer had been building up to writing for the whole of his life. Sadly though, Bach never heard the Mass performed in its entirety. The complete B Minor Mass was first heard in Leipzig, Germany, in 1859.

The concert on April 19, 2019 will be conducted by Hugh Van Pelt, and performed by CHORAL CONNECTION. Formed in the spring of 2003, CHORAL CONNECTION is a local choir made up of singing enthusiasts from St. Thomas and the surrounding area.
